Dear blog readers
Hello. This is Kamata from FLAGSHIP STORE.
The "NEW MEDICAL SHIRT" has always been popular with many people for its excellent appearance and gradual fading over time. It has become one of the brand's most beloved items.
However, the item I'd like to introduce this time is not the same as the NEW MEDICAL SHIRT. I was personally looking forward to its arrival in the Spring/Summer season. This is a shirt that fans of the US military will love.
US NAVY SHIRT - DUNGAREE
Item No.: 80500010007
Color: Indigo
Size: 46 / 48 / 50 / 52 / 54
The faded vibrant blue unique to Vintage Chambray and the striking Navy urea buttons that match the fabric give it a real US Navy vibe.
Let's start by unraveling the background.
.
.
It began in the 1930s.
A work shirt used by the US Navy when working on board ships.
In fact, this shirt has an incredible history of being produced for about 90 years, with only minor changes. This is proof of its continued trust.
It is also said to have been worn in the movie "The San Pablo," starring the legendary post-war actor Steve McQueen, and has been a popular item ever since.
I've seen a few of his movies, and they're really cool. He had a huge influence on the fashion and textiles of the time. The impact of one movie must have been immeasurable, especially since it was a time when there was no information society with SNS or the internet.
This product is based on the "M-43 Model," a masterpiece from the wartime period that is said to be extremely elaborate.
For example, the triangular gusset reinforces the bottom seams of the front and back body, the chain stitch is used on the yoke of the lining, and all seams are double stitched to increase toughness. Details unique to sturdy work wear can be seen everywhere.
When you consider that this was painstakingly produced during wartime when supplies were scarce, it becomes clear why it is considered a masterpiece.
The reason we used navy urea buttons is as a detail to prevent the enemy from seeing you at sea.
Compared to the MEDICAL SHIRT, which uses black cat's eye buttons on the fabric, this shirt has a more accentuated look and the design has just the right amount of presence, which I personally find very appealing.
Also, although it is a small detail, the tip of the collar is sharper than other shirts, which is one of the unique features of this US Navy shirt. The meticulous attention to detail even in the smallest parts is what makes Nigel Cabourn so good.
This name patch can be seen on several items for the SS25 season, and is also used on this product.
This patch also features ZUKI's particular attention to detail.
By attaching the patch not to the edge of the garment but slightly inward, we have recreated the look of a well-used vintage patch.
The original is a US NAVY stencil military patch, but here Nigel Cabourn's unique style is utilized.

The fabric is 100% cotton.
We use fine thread that is versatile enough to be used in all seasons.
When new it still has a slightly crisp texture, but with wear it becomes incredibly soft and comfortable.
The dyeing process used is skein dyeing.
This is a dyeing process that is done by hand without using a machine, in which a bundle of cotton threads made into a ring is immersed in a pot called a kago-tsubo containing indigo dye, then taken out and exposed to air to oxidize, and this process is repeated several times.
The loosely twisted loop-shaped yarn allows the dye to penetrate all the way to the core, preventing excessive fading. The material also develops a unique texture the more it is worn.

※Size worn: 50 (height 175 cm)
When it comes to DUNGAREE SHIRT, DENIM is the first thing that comes to mind.
I am wearing my own British Army pants loose denim, but I'm sure it would go well with Railman denim or 30's US Army denim as well.
The silhouette seems fine with the size you normally choose.
If you are unsure, please come to our store.
.
.
Please enjoy this timeless American-made shirt, which is similar but not the same as the MEDICAL SHIRT.
It has a unique world view that allows you to enjoy the faded atmosphere of the fabric even when it is brand new.
